I came across this cute game just today. It features a Kingside attack involving numerous piece sacrifices. Enjoy!
POSITION AFTER 22 MOVES:
corr.GM Hebert
Radeker
A correspondence game from the 1990's featuring Canada's Jean Hebert, who later gained a gm title in correspondence chess, to add on to his im title. Here in this game luck did not shine on Hebert: White has exceptionally active pieces.
23. e6!
A very strong blow! Things would not be so bad if the Black pawn were on b7, but now White is able to bust open the Black Kingside with a pretty series of sacrifices.
23...PxP 24.Bxg6!
Black has no choice but to accept the sacrifice: 24...Nf6 25.Rg3! and the attack becomes even stronger!
24...PxB 25. Rxc6!
When it rains, it pours! This last move trys to deflect an important defender, the Bishop. Now, unfortunately , there is no reasonable chance to hold on. If 25... Bxc6 26. Qxg6 Rg7 27. Qxe6 Kf8 28. Rf3 is all over; and 25... a6 allows 26. Nd6 Rg7 27. Nxe8 and so on with a relatively dry technical win.
25...Rg7!? 26.Nxe6
And White soon won....
